FutureFit, VERMEG’s event focused on Regulatory Reporting, took place in-person on 24th August in Honk Kong.

It was an opportunity to hear opinions, guidance and actionable information, as well as the opportunity to network with your peers, as we dive into regulatory reporting.

FutureFit recently moved to Hong Kong where once again we had an opportunity to get together and discuss all things RegTech!
In Hong Kong we were joined by Jerry TK Kwok, a Director in Financial Services Risk Management and Ann GY Wang, a Senior Manager in Financial Services Business Consulting, both from EY. Jerry provided guests with an introduction to the ISSB and TCFD frameworks, exploring the differences between the frameworks across areas such as risk management and governance, whilst Ann detailed the changes to Credit, Market and Operational Risk as part of the finalization of Basel III. We were also joined by Kenny Lai, Solution Architect at Alibaba Cloud, who explored cloud adoption in Financial Services, busting some of the myths around cloud usage and exploring how to address any regulatory concerns.

Evelyn Tsang, Head of Greater China, opened the event and welcomed everyone.
Ken Wang, Director Business Solutions Greater China, looked at global trends in risk calculations with a focus on SA-CCR.
Pavan Pothuraju, Head of Regulatory Product Management, APAC, provided an update on his study of granular data reporting including examples from Europe of how the data exchange between firms and regulators may look in the future.
And finally Mark Shead, Head of Regulatory Innovation, presented back on our innovation agenda and what clients and prospects can expect in the future from AGILE.

Jerry has more than 10+ years in in the banking industry and risk management consulting services. As the project lead for several teams, he demonstrates his professional knowledge in climate risk, IRB and IFRS model development and review, ICAAP development, stress testing model development, and other fields. In recent years, he has done extensive work on climate-related topics, with a key focus on assisting clients to develop and implement climate risk management strategies for new regulatory challenges. Lately, he is leading multiple climate risk management projects in Hong Kong/China, including completing 3 pilot climate risk stress testing projects, and 10+ climate risk management projects in Hong Kong.

Evelyn has over 20 years of experience in business development and client relationship management in the financial services industry. She joined Vermeg at the start of 2023 and looks after the Collateral sales in APAC market infrastructure sector and recently expanded her responsibility to cover the post-trade and regulatory reporting solutions for Greater China. She has previously worked for many years at Adenza, ICE, Refinitive and other financial service providers in the past, and also having worked at a subsidiary of a Japanese bank for derivatives products.
She has a track record of building the business and winning new clients to ensure the region meets and exceeds company’s target. She is a strong advocate for a consultative approach to empower clients on their digital transformation journey with faster time-to-market and she is able to lay out how the value proposition resonates with the customers’ needs by understanding the client’s workflows and aiming to maximize the potential of appropriate business solutions.

Mark has over 20 years of experience in delivering technical change, the last 12 years of which have been spent in RegTech. Mark first started out in RegTech leading the ‘Harmonised Reporting’ program for the FCA and BoE, delivering the technical changes required for Basel III/CRD IV and XBRL regulatory reporting. Following the successful delivery of this program, Mark joined BearingPoint where he built and led the UK RegTech practice including winning awards for innovation at the FCA’s ‘Unlocking Regulatory Reporting’ TechSprint, sowing the seeds for Digital Regulatory Reporting (DRR), and for the use of semantic technology in solving complex issues.
Mark is currently the Head of Regulatory Innovation at Vermeg, working in our Product team to support a Future Fit AGILE reporter platform whilst providing support across our global sales and marketing teams.

Pavan is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the banking industry. He has been an integral part of Vermeg for over 7 years, playing a crucial role in driving innovation and product strategy in the region.
At Vermeg, he was instrumental in successfully delivering some of the major regulatory programs to the clients like, MAS610 regulations in Singapore, EFS regulations in Australia, GDR regulations in Hong Kong. Before joining Vermeg, he worked at global banks like Barclays, Credit Suisse, and Citi bank, with his primary focus on Financial, Non-financial and Risk related reporting requirements. Notably, his extensive experience and proficiency in navigating the regulatory landscape have allowed him to successfully collaborate and work on various reporting requirements published by various industry regulators like APRA, MAS, HKMA, RBI. Outside of core work, his other areas of interest are ESG and Blockchain.
