The VERMEG Watching Brief #2 ESG Clinic
28th September 2022
About
This panel discusses what the requirements of ESG reporting are, the operation of regulatory pressures both those explicit and those less obvious, and the difficulties inherent in applying ESG measures in practice. Does data now need to be properly represented at board level? Can ESG still remain confined within an ESG team?
Panellists also discussed where ESG is heading and what form it will take in the very near future. Topics include ESG operating as a futures market and being modelled as a form of Conduct Risk. Whether incomplete modelling now will lead to the firm being punished down the line. With European ESG disclosures now being based on regulatory reporting data, will some of the burden of ESG now start to fall on Regulatory teams?
